Upstream drugs interdiction really works....

Or does it?
How odd that following the day that SOCA claim credit via their embedded reporter in Colombia for intercepting 45% of their annual cocaine production, Bob Ainsworth - former minister, now proposes the one thing no-one could ever do whilst in power - legalising all drugs.
Can't help feeling that claims of this nature are hugely inflated and don't tell the real story by a mile.  There is some indication though in Frank Gardner's article that the Colombia aspect is only a fraction of the real issue.  Neighbouring Peru, where SOCA removed their full time presence in 2006, is the 3rd largest and cheapest coke producer in the area - lucky then that we influence the grand total of 4% of Peru coke production and supply.
